About Sophistications Mom

Well, Hello!

Thank you for taking the time to visit and learn a little bit more about my family and myself!  I'm a 30 something mom of a cutie pie little angel girl that is more often a monster than an angel these days.  Sophistication is a nickname that my phone is constantly spell checking my dd's name too.  :-)  I'm happily married to wonderful man that supports me in all of my endeavors.  However we are also long distance!  I am currently counting down until we are back in one state though.  My husband is going to school for Electrical Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology 5 hours away from our home in NY.  As a couple we have decided that Sophistication and myself staying at our home in NY is better for our future so he can study and get good grades to graduate!  He's scheduled to graduate in the spring of 2014 so I am anxiously counting down!  Following graduation we have "loosely" planned baby #2 for Spring 2015!  So not only am I counting down graduation I'm counting down for baby! yay :-)  lol

A little bit about us:

We LOVE to cook!  I am of Finish decent and my husband is Sicilian/Irish so our cooking can be quite a mix.  We eat a lot of traditional Italian foods along with Mexican and stir fry's.  We also love Chinese buffet's and going to the occasional hibachi grill!

When my husband and I first met we were also long distance.  To help with the separation he got me to play 'WOW' with him.  If you do not know what that is, it's: World of Warcraft!  He has and I quote "been playing since vanilla!"  For the longest time I was clueless to what that meant until I really started to understand the game.  We are Horde!  :-)   Although I have played Alliance on a secondary server, my main character is Horde and quickly being replaced by my monk.  We only play on school breaks to A: save money and B: remove the distraction to my husband from school.  WOW is only a break time game for us.

I am an avid reader!  I read mainly vampire type books and have many favorite authors.  However, these are quickly being replaced by Dr. Seuss, Curious George and Mem Fox books!

Current favorite movies in our home are: Despicable Me (which I've had to see at least a thousand times!) Brave, Megamind and Mamma Mia!  Sophistication LOVES the music!  My favorite classic movies include Anne of Green Gables and the origional "Wizard of Oz"

We do not have cable!  No satellite either!  I think this is the main reason I've seen Despicable Me a thousand times.  We have not subscribed in almost 4 years and couldn't be happier without it.  We however do have Netflix and Hulu plus.  We also own a Vizio Co-star.  Between those three we get the news, weather and most new shows as well as most movies.  I am quite happy with the arrangement :-)

My home in NY is multi-generational!  My mom and step-dad live with us!  We actually enjoy this due to the long distance thing, and frankly I couldn't do it without them!

We LOVE SKYPE!!!!!!!!!!!!  Another thing I couldn't live without being long distance.  If both my husband and I are both home from work/school we have Skype on.  Even if we're just cooking or cleaning it gives us a sense that we're still there with each other.  I give major props and much respect to military families that have to go months without seeing each other as I can barely go three weeks without having a meltdown if I don't see my husband in person.

I am quickly becoming a subscription box addict and am trying to find ways to fund my fix!  :-)  Any donations are greatly appreciated!

I craft!  I crochet and love doing crafty things!  I need a sewing machine!  Again, any donations and I'll gladly take it! :-)  lol

Well that's all I can think of for now!  :-)  I'm sure I'll update this soon enough...

Thank you for checking in and reading a bit about us!
